    《飘》讲的是发生于200年前的美国南北内战时期的故事，Scarlett的家庭模式，很有些东方中国式家庭的要素，其父女关系、母女关系、夫妻关系，均相当人性化。Scarlett的父亲是个敢于冒险闯世界的成功者，Scarlett的母亲作为受过良好教育的法国贵族后裔，为什么会嫁给Scarlett的父亲成立家庭书中没说，但可以肯定的是Scarlett的父母亲是恩爱夫妻，性格互补，处理家庭事务和对外事务皆互展特长，Scarlett的母亲主持庄园内部事务井井有条，Scarlett的父亲处理庄园外部事务也很得体，他与其他庄园主之间的关系、关联也很得体，他的人缘相当不错，外表粗犷、狂野，内心心地善良非凡，看不得别人受苦，甚至于自己的妻子管教佣人使其哭泣了这样的小事，他都会有恻隐之心。
